The Art of Not Worrying
We lie in our beds at night and can't fall asleep. Our thoughts are racing. They swarm around like ants coming out of an anthill.
What happens in that situation is that we worry.
There is nothing strange or wrong about it. It's normal to worry. It's something that happens in our brain. It is not something we can do anything about, we think.
But maybe it is something we can do something about? Just once in a while?
The fact of the matter is that worrying is one of the most fruitless things we can do with our mental powers. Worries rarely lead anywhere, other than to a negative loop, where worries breed even more worries and make us even more uneasy.
Ways out of worrying
I do not think that there is any quick fix we can use. There is no button we can press which makes all our worries disappear by magic. Unfortunately.
But I think there are two paths that we can choose to get a grip on our worries and shift the negative loop to a more positive mindset that can help us move forward.
Firstly, we can become more aware of our concerns.
Secondly, there are a number of concrete things we can do.
